Every piece
of art that I create — whether through
fashion, painting, sketching, or sculptur — expresses me wholly as
an African-American woman. I wish to convey Black womanhood and family
in its greater beauty, spirituality and raw essence. The thread that runs
through my work is the concept that truth is most tangible when it is
simple, and most beautiful when it is universal. I view my work as artistic
devotion, offered to my ancestors and all of our children, in the name
of art, culture and peace.
